Lunch

20 May

As today is the first day of the weekend for us, we headed over to Johnny Rockets for an early lunch. JR’s is an all American Diner which replicates diners in the 60’s. We first encountered this restaurant chain when we lived in Qatar and completely “platzed” over their burgers. We were thrilled to hear that they were opening one in Riyadh just before we left last September.

Admittedly it is not quite the same as the one in Qatar that played 60’s music and had the staff breaking into choreographed dance when certain songs came on. In Saudi it is illegal to play music in restaurants so it lacks the atmosphere that we loved so much. And the food….well…also not quite up to scratch but it is still a fun outing and takes you away for a little while.

And anywhere that serves fries is ALWAYS a winner with young Luka!

There shakes are absolutely TO DIE FOR. This is my standard order: Oreo’s Cookies and Cream. YUMMMMMMM.

Of course it is hard work being wined and dined and with a full tummy and a happy heart, Luka fell fast asleep 5 minutes into the journey back home.

I tasted the worst vegetarian burger in Johnny Rockets Eastwood Mall, Manila. I love the dancing crew though:-))

Yeah, we love the dancing crew too. That’s mostly why we love JR’s, pity they don’t dance here in the Land of Sand. In fact, pity they don’t play ANY MUSIC AT ALL in restuarants here.

Life there must be pretty boring for those who are not use to it or haven’t got used to it… I’m still wishing for a more free Saudi Arabia 🙂

The summer does drag on a little. There is not a whole lot to do when it is so hot out. It either makes you creative in finding stuff to do or lazy.
