The Weekend Barbie

1 Jul

It is Thursday today, the first day of our weekend in The Land of Sand. We often start the weekend off on a Wednesday night with a BBQ. This week has seen relatively moderate temperatures here which is always very welcome. We have seldom gone over 40 degrees Celsius this week so it is quite pleasant to sit outside in the evenings.

Yay for a great steak over the coals, thanks Bennie! You rock our meat-eating world.

i’m anxious for us to get a little outdoor area here, where we can eat and just enjoy the cooler evenings.

sidenote: do you guys have mosquitoes there?

Get it done already then, I mean what else do you have to do all day? Kidding

I think that being outddors so much is part of the South African culture for us. We do it wherever we are. But then our outdoor areas were already built for us when we arrived, we didn’t have to construct anything ourselves. A little easier, no?

We do have mosquitoes and flies but they dissapear during the very hot months.

i actually am working towards getting it done. but first things first… right now i’m building a soccer field. i brought in a bunch of dirt and am leveling a big enough area to play.

but sometime after that i’ll get to work on a outdoor table and eating area…

and yeah, you guys did have it easier.

All the best with your big football plans, very appropriate just as the World Cup comes to an end. I hope you are taking photos for a post once you are done.

Hi there South peoples, so nice to see the wellknown stuff and how you get on with the bbq. PLease next time a bit more detail about the size of the steaks you eat :-)) Just to make us jealous, although, now here in Canada we finally find very good steaks and we bbq a lot. But we have a soft feeling seeing you on that porch. With all best greetings, Jan (and Fay)
PS: You should ask Graham to make the patio bigger :-)))))))))

      Hello travellers!
How lovely to hear from you. Your trip looks fabulous and just a little cooler than here. It must be really strange seeing your old patio with all of us sitting on it. You are absolutely right though it is clearly not big enough for all the guests that come over, I will get onto Graham about it right away(not).

      Lots of love
