France – Day 1

13 Sep

I have managed to get online this morning – finally. We have very intermittent internet connection where we are staying so I have to make hay while the sun shines. Posts are going to come thick and fast while I can do it, sorry.

On our first day in France we:

  • arrived bright and early at Charles de Gaulle airport. Luka had so little sleep during the night that he looked like this when we arrived! Fortunately he was enjoying the adventure so much that he forgot to moan and groan about being tired and seriously sleep deprived. He has just loved the trip thus far and has been pretty angelic, clearly his cabin fever was as bad as ours and getting out has done him the world of good.

  • grabbed our car and GPS and set off for the 4 and a half hour drive to Lyon – our half way stop.

  • drank in the  beautiful scenery along the way

  •  arrived at the quirky school-themed College Hotel 9 hours later thanks to our GPS who had decided that we should take the scenic route from Paris to Lyon. We thourally enjoyed the drive and can’t complain about not seeing any of the countryside.

  • enjoyed dinner at a street cafe watching the world pass by before heading back to our hotel for a much-needed night of rest.

Divine. The child, the trip, the snacks, the pictures – even the quirks of your GPS. Wish you have the most wonderful time!

Thanks Jana, we are having fun. It feels a little busy sometimes trying to fit it all in but you have to make the most of the time you have.

      Thank you Arathi.
Luckily Luka has been pretty easy going during the trip, despite much time spent in the car which he is not usually a big fan of.
The trip is busy but makes for a great change from the Land of Sand and was MUCH needed.

We were feeling pretty tired after a night flight and a whole day in the car but the glass of REAL wine with dinner was well worth the wait.
