France – Day 2

13 Sep

Today we:

  • took a stroll around the old parts of Lyon before breakfast

  • waved goodbye to Lyon as we headed further south to Provence. This time we programmed the GPS to take us via the motorway, we loved our 9 hour trip the day before but could certainly not do it again. Luka’s patience can only be expected to last for so long.

  •   stopped for amazing snacks along the way, just as the French do. There is no eating in the car during a road trip in these parts. You stop, unpack a picnic basket, eat and then set off for the rest of your journey, so very civilised!

  • arrived at our destination, a vineyard situated just outside the little village of Le Val, Provence.

sounds like a lovely way to travel. i think that was much the way it was done in the US sixty or so years ago before interstates….

It is quite tricky to adjust to a different frame of mind, we are usually in a rush to get to our final destination. It is good to slow down and enjoy the ride for a change.
