We celebrated Luka’s 2nd birthday on Friday. What an amazing privilege it is to be a parent. I still get teary from time to time when I think about how blessed I am to have this little person in my life, it’s almost as though I can never quite believe that it is real and that we get to keep him. And then of course, we have a bad night with little sleep and I am reminded of just how real it is!
A week or so ago, some of the parents who live in the compound screened a movie for the kids outdoors and under the stars. I got Luka bathed and into his pj’s, we loaded the stroller with a sleeping bag and some cushions and set off to the little patch of grass that had been picked out for the event as it has a wall large enough to project a movie onto. I lay with my little boy cuddled up close by my side watching Toy Story 3 with great big tears rolling down my cheeks. I felt so very lucky to be able to share a silly little thing like a movie under the stars with him. Luckily it was dark and nobody could see my brief moment of silliness. Yip, pathetic I know.
Anyway, in honour of his 2nd birthday I made this little video to mark the journey he has travelled thus far. From the ugly newborn baby with the badly bruised black and blue face to the blond sports-mad 2-year-old that he is today. Music: (You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am by The Living Sisters

Thanks for that! It is toooooo beautiful! Neenee was sitting on my lap watching with me…. saying “babba,babba” the whole time, she tried to touch the screen and got so wrigley trying to do so, that I put her down! BIG MISTAKE!!!! She started screaming for the babba!!!! had to pick her up again to watch till the end!!!!! Love at first sight!!! 😉
